The Land of Stories: The Wishing Spell - Chris Colfer

As a Youth Services Librarian, I am asked for book recommendations constantly. The first question I ask a child or young adult is, "Do you enjoy fairytales?". If they respond with anything but a no, I recommend this book.

Chris Colfer (yes, from Glee) has done a brilliant job recreating fairytale stories into easy to read, yet still engaging, books for young people. I myself have read every book in his "Land of Stories" series. The vocabulary is easy to read but the content is still interesting to the older patrons.

I recommend this book to anyone who loves to read fairy tales, YA novels, adventure books, and easy readers. If you work in a public, private, or just have a library in your living room (like I do) you need to have this series in your collection.

----If you read this book but what something a little more mature, try The 10th Kingdom by Kathryn Wesley.
